I cannot believe it has been 1 year since my dear uncle Al has gone to be with the Lord.  I have very fond memories of Uncle Al.  I will never forget the many Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter holidays as a young person with the Mercurio family.  I have wonderful memories of Uncle Al playing his quitar, telling us kids bible stories and singing hymns with us kids while aunt Mary played the organ. I remember every Christmas it was traditional for uncle 
Al to make his ravioli cookies and strufoli, i recall one time he  competed with his brother Dominck in who made the better strufoli, it was a tie. Uncle Al was a very artistic man, with a paint brush and building things with his hands, one being his world famous "Chritmas Village" which he displayed every year since I can remember. I am so thankful for the many phone conversations we had over the years, with amzing stories of his service to this great country, his love for Jesus Christ our savior, love for his family and others.  His legacey will live on in my heart always.  Thanks for the memories and the love your life has demonstrated to those who knew you. And my Aunt Mary, who always was so gracious,and hospitable, and always so gentle and kind, you both were 2 very special in my life. Always in my heart, and always will be remembered. your neice, esther

It's hard to believe that it will be a year tomorrow since you left us. In Eternity, it was but a second.So much has happened on Earth. We can only imagine what you're seeing in Heaven! The verse you always quoted "Eye hath not seen, ears have not heard what the Lord has prepared for us" always comes to mind.I love you Dad.

It's been 6 months since you passed daddy...and I miss you dearly! I appreciate more and more the man that you were...imperfect like the rest of us...yet your priorities always in order: The Lord  first,family and others second, then yourself.

I was always fond of my Uncle Al and will always love him. I enjoyed talking to him about Jesus and the miracles he did and is still doing.

Whenever I visited Uncle Al and his family, I always had a good time. 

Even though my heart aches, I know he is in good hands now, and is happy and healthy once again.

From my childhood, I have fond memories of my uncle playing his guitar and singing.  I will always remember how he loved to paint pictures on canvas.  His skills were admirable.  

There was one time in particular when we visited the Mercurios and my sister and I were teaching Uncle Al to sing some Spanish songs we had just learned in school.  He accompanied us on his guitar, and we all had a good-natured laugh afterwards. I'm told those tapes are still around.

May the Lord rest his soul.

My dear Uncle Al whom I haven't seen in years but had a few wonderful phone conversations with this year.  We spoke about going sledding and that we should meet.Ha!  Talked about everything under the sun including Italian cookies and what a great artist he was years back.  He didn't think I remembered those beautiful paintings he created.  He told me he loved cookies. Since Valentine's Day was approaching I sent some chocolate cookies to Aunt Mary and Uncle Al. I'll always remember visiting my aunt, uncle and cousins when welived in N.Y. and the sweet and kind deameanor of my uncle and his great love for the Lord and the records he played of the "Couriers", etc.  Uncle Al and my dad, Russell would always sing a duet together.  They sounded awesome! He  will be greatly missed by me and I feel blessed I had that time to have spoken to him. Aunt Mary my heart goes out to you at such a time as this! I hadn't seen my Uncle Al in ages, as my family & I moved to Arizona in 1982.  But, I have great memories of going to my aunt & uncle's house in Long Island.  I remember trains - especially when I was young.  I believe he had a room designated with the train set and it was huge.  Quite fun, actually.  I also remember how he loved the Lord.  He actually recorded my sisters and I singing some hymns. Even back then - that was taking a chance, as I couldn't sing back then either.  I also remember his jet black hair - so amazing. I went gray way before he did.  He was always smiling and happy.  He was an exceptional uncle.  My aunt Mary is still an exceptional aunt. I am proud to be their niece.

He had great stories.  They were detailed, textural and engaging.  He got you immersed in the textile district, or the war in the Pacific, or in his unfailing faith in God.  He was old school, where the word "respect" still meant something.  Next time thru life, I want to meet him 50 years ago!

I remember that whenever my siblings and I would visit the Mercurios, we'd always perform a few pieces on the piano for them. I know that Mr. Mercurio was very appreciative of the music, and the eyes of him and his wife would always shine after we'd finish performing. Heartfelt "wonderful"s and "wow"s would also follow the songs, and I'm happy that we were able to bring joy to both of them with our piano playing.

I remember how Mr. Mercurio always said, "God bless you" whenever I came in.  
I remember him talking about some of his adventures in the army.  
The last time we saw him he had the buttons in the wrong holes and I fixed them.  
I knew he had a strong faith.  He's in heaven now.  I know it.  Though he may have had troubles, he always kept his faith.  
It amazed me, one of his stories when he said that God was his doctor.  Now God healed him just like that.  
He will always be remembered.

I remember when Mr. Mercurio played badmitten and threw around a baseball on a nice summer evening with us.
Also, when he told us all about his service in the WW2 tank division; how he got injured, didn't tell anybody, never went to the hospital, so he never got an award.  
I'll miss his stories.

I remember Mr. Mercurio telling me about his time in the Pacific in the army, it was quite fascinating. He was telling me about one of his friends who had just shot a Japanese soldier. He said that his friend was in shock. I also have a lot of memories of him sitting at his chair smiling while we ate (a scrumpdidiliumschis) dinner prepared by Mrs. Mercurio.  I will miss him very much when we visit.

Dear Mrs. Mercurio,
Had I known, you know I would have been there... But you know that I am always there with you in spirit, and I am always here for you, and I would be there for you in a heartbeat.
Throughout the 30 (!) years I've known you and your husband, I've always loved you both and had the utmost respect for the 2 of you.  I cherish our familial memories, I am grateful to both of you for touching my children's lives, and I thank God you and your husband gave me my life-long best friend in your son Mark.
I pray that you and yours find the peace we know your husband is living his eternity in now.
