The beloved daughter of Thorbon and Ethel Causey, Brenda was born with a generous heart and an unwavering devotion to those she loved. She created a life rich with laughter, kindness, and cherished memories. She shared 51 beautiful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Joseph, a partnership filled with music, joy, and steadfast devotion.
Brenda was the proud and loving mother of three daughters: Lisa Bray and husband Robert, Cheryl Brennan, and Denise Arena and husband Mike. She was the adored grandmother of Robbie and wife Lindsey, Ryan and wife Julia, Patrick, Sean, Michael, Ellie, and Isabella, and the treasured great-grandmother of Dustin. Family was at the very center of Brenda’s world, and she celebrated each of them with immeasurable pride.
She is reunited again with her family members that have passed prior, her parents, Thorbon and Ethel Causey; siblings J.T., Lumina, Linda, Pat, Joyce Ann, and Jasper; and by her niece Wanda and nephews Aaron, Durwood, Tommy and Paul-Joe. Her loving siblings Charles Causey and Vivian Skipper, along with her nieces and nephews Harold, Ray, Teresa, Franklin, William, Dewanna, Danny, Dawn, Bill, and Derek, Debbie, Patti Ann, Jane and Timmy will continue to carry her memory in their hearts.
Brenda lived a life defined by hard work, dedication, and compassion. She proudly began her working years as a school bus driver while still in high school, later serving the Miller Place School District for many years. She went on to become Head Custodian at Sound Beach School, where she was admired for her diligence, kindness, and the care she put into everything she did.
A woman of many talents and joys, Brenda filled her days with the hobbies that brought her—and others—happiness. She was a gifted seamstress who sewed clothes for her children, curtains for her home, and special blankets for her grandchildren. She had a true green thumb, nurturing her gardens with love and rescuing and nursing baby birds until they were strong enough to fly free.
She loved playing horseshoes, singing along while Joe played guitar, and driving—especially her family’s John Deere tractor. Brenda learned to ski later in life simply to share more time with family and friends. She delighted in telling jokes, handing out gummy bears to children, and cooking meals that became family traditions—her fried chicken, chili, and crumb cake were legendary. She made her own jam, gifting it to those she held especially dear.
Brenda was also an excellent bowler, proud to be part of the “200 Club” and a longtime member of a bowling team. And above all else—Brenda loved her coffee.
Her love for her family was boundless. She often told her grandchildren that if they ever missed her, they could look to the North Star, and they would find each other there.
Brenda’s warmth, humor, generosity, and unwavering devotion will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and memories that will be cherished for generations.
May her beautiful soul rest in peace.
