He grew up in Holbrook, NY, where he began his education in the Sachem School District. He earned an associate’s degree at Suffolk Community College, an undergraduate degree at SUNY Oneonta, and a master’s degree at Albany University in New York.
Chuck spent nearly 40 years as an English teacher, the majority of that time back in Sachem public schools. Driving extracurricular activities with his students, he successfully developed the district’s first after-school photography club.
After retiring, he volunteered in a soup kitchen, brushed up on bible studies, and, despite his Parkinson’s affliction, became an avid bowler. Complementing a keen interest in genealogy, Chuck attended an adult daycare program, where he unabashedly renewed interests in painting and singing.
More than any one career accomplishment or leisure activity, though, Chuck will be remembered for his generosity, humor, curiosity, and a consistently can-do demeanor.
In addition to his wife of 44 years Luanne, Chuck is survived by their daughter Sarah and son-in-law Patrick. Among Chuck’s greatest joys were his grandchildren, Annie and Patrick.
A Memorial Service will be held at O. B. Davis Funeral Homes, 1001 Route 25a, Miller Place, NY 11764, US, on September 4, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, and again on September 4, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Celebration of Life will be held at St Mark's Rc Church, 105 Randall Rd, Shoreham, NY 11786, US, on September 5, 2026, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am, followed by a Committal Service at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3442 NY-112, Coram, NY 11727, US, on September 5, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm.
