Dawn Sipila passed away peacefully on August 8th, surrounded by the love of her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, compassion, and selflessness that will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Dawn is now reunited with her beloved husband, Hank, with whom she shared 68 wonderful years of marriage. Their beautiful love story began when they met in Port Jefferson, New York, and together they built a life centered around family, faith, and unconditional love.
Those who knew Dawn best would describe her as beloved, compassionate, devoted, faithful, hard-working, and selfless. She spent her life caring for others, both through her work as a companion and, most importantly, through the love and care she gave to her family. Dawn was the kind of person who always put the needs of others before her own. Her greatest joy was being there for the people she loved, and she gave of herself freely and without hesitation.
In her younger years, Dawn enjoyed reading and crocheting. She found comfort and strength in her faith, which remained an important part of her life.
Dawn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hank; her sons, Mark and Dwayne; her grandson, Donald; and her siblings, Leo and Joan. She is now reunited with them and at peace, surrounded once again by those she loved so dearly.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Daria and son in law Mike, Dawn, and David (Linda); her grandchildren, Gregory, Carolyn (Jackson), and Joseph; her great-grandchildren, Carson and Jalyn; and her niece and nephews, Suzanne, John, and Joseph.
Dawn’s life was a testament to what it means to love selflessly. Though she will be deeply missed, her kindness, faith, strength, and unwavering love for her family will continue to be carried forward by all who were blessed to know her.
May she rest peacefully, reunited with the love of her life, Hank, and all those who went before her.
A Committal Service and Interment will be held at Calverton National Cemetery, 210 Princeton Blvd, Calverton, NY 11933, US, on August 17, 2026 at 11:00 am.
