

BACKOFEN, Emil G. Reunited with his beloved wife of almost 50 years, the late Joan Backofen. Devoted father of Linda, Rick and Joanne and Joe. Father-in-Law of Miriam, Larry, Kelly and Billy. Cherished grandfather of Jen, Nick, Danielle, Josef, Chrissy, Casey, Michael and Kristen. Special great-grandfather of Allysa, Kayla, Dale, Briana, Savanah and Erik. Great-Great Grandfather of Isabella and Violet.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, where he was a dedicated member the Chauncey Street stickball team. Proud US Army Veteran where he served as a Photographer in occupied Germany. Also resided in Queens, West Hempstead and Ridge, NY. Life long fair weather fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Mets. Retired in 1982 after over 25 years from Xerox Corp and it’s predecessor Halloid Corp where he was a pioneer and one of the iconic company’s very first employees. Proud owner of Princess Nasquilla as well as owner and breeder several other beautiful race horses and lifelong fan of the Sport of Kings. He was a passionate and avid investor. Current resident of Leisure Knoll in Ridge NY where he was a devoted member of the Tennis club and Top of the World in Clearwater, Fl where he enjoyed wintering on the beach and sitting in front of his beloved television. Long time devoted member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rocky Point, NY Emil will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him as well as the Pinnacle Vodka company. Reposing at O.B. Davis Funeral Homes, 1001 Route 25A, Miller Place, NY. Visitation Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Services Thursday 10 am. Interment Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, NY
