I first I saw Jeannie two years ago, as she walked her little dog, Sweetie, past my house; this tiny, peppy redhead with her hair and makeup all done, dressed in beautiful clothing, and I remember thinking, "This is a classy lady." Her age was indescernable.

She struck up a conversation with me, as was typical Jeannie. We talked about the Saints, St. Francis, the animals. And of course, our bond was to be.

Soon our conversations progressed to her home, where she and Nick always welcomed me with open arms and so much love and kindness. Jeannie always managed to see the best of me, and never the worst. And every conversation ended with I-love-you's.

But this is who Jeannie was. A tiny spitfire who adored life, adored people, adored animals. Her face would light up every time she spoke of one of her great-grandchildren, or of a new birth. Her face would be filled with sorrow when she spoke of animal suffering.

Jeannie, I miss our many chats at your kitchen table. I miss seeing your beautiful smile, and the soft eyes that revealed the love and tenderness in your heart. And I miss you, my dear friend.

Thank you for teaching this teacher that love and gentleness and kindness and compassion and enthusiasm are qualities that we must embrace until our last day on Earth. And you taught me the best possible way, by example.

I love you, dear Jeannie.

Grammy it’s still so hard to believe that you’re gone . We now know that heaven and us all have gained the most wonderful and beautiful guardian angel looking down on us every single day. I can picture you now making everyone your famous pizza asking if they’re hungry and looking over and seeing the most wonderful dance floor ever, heaven’s dance floor and we can picture you right now dancing and whistling on that dance floor. You always were the life of everyone’s party.
We are going to miss taking care of you living next door to you for the last 5 years getting that midnight phone call or any time of the day call to come fix the tv or anything else you needed and us asking you how did it happen and always hearing you say I don’t know, it wasn’t me (not me) , it’s this house!! I’m going to miss making you you’re coffee, soft boiled eggs and Italian bread every Friday and all the talks we would have.
I can go on and on with all we will miss but most of all you Grammy you and your loving ways will truly missed.
We love you so much,
Pat and Tara xoxo

Jean will be sorely missed. When I was a younger she and I would take walks every night after I got home from work I looked forward to the time I spent with her. I will miss her very much

Nick, and family: we were deeply saddened to hear about Jean’s passing. In the forty-five plus years that we knew her, we always marveled at her cheerful disposition, her love of life and of her family, and of course her joy in taking a spin around the dance floor!! Hopefully they have a good dance band up in Heaven because she will no doubt be the first one in line! You all have a special angel watching over you.
