Joan will be remembered for her gentle spirit, faithful nature, and wonderful sense of humor. Those who knew her best would describe her as someone who brought kindness and warmth into the lives of those around her, always with a quiet strength and a smile that could brighten a room.
Joan dedicated her professional career to Stony Brook University, where she served as the Office Manager for the Music Department. Outside of work, she found joy in reading and was an active member of her book club, where she enjoyed sharing her love of literature and spending time with others.
Above all, Joan was devoted to her family. She was a loving and caring aunt to her nieces and nephews and took great pride in being a part of their lives. Joan was also a devoted caretaker to her beloved late mother, Kathleen, providing her with love, comfort, and unwavering care.
Joan is now reunited with her beloved brother Frank, who passed before her and now welcomes Joan with open arms.
Joan leaves behind to cherish her memory her siblings, Michael Vogelle and Mary Vogelle-Buscemi; her nieces and nephews, Lana, René, Matthew, Darcy, Shannon, and Justin; and her cousins, Vincent, Mary Ellen, Steven, and Terry. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
