Though I was just a college kid at the time and he had plenty of kids of his own, Jack (or Japes as he let me call him) always treated me as one of the family and with that came some friendly, good-natured teasing. I will always remember his humor, gentleness, strong and well-informed political opinions, and generous nature. My condolences to his wonderful family.
