I was very saddened to hear about John’s passing and I want to extend my deepest condolences to the Schaetzl family during this difficult time. I was very fortunate to have known John from early childhood. He was very intelligent, and a lot of fun to be around. We shared many fun times at Village School, the park on Hillside, buyrite, excursions to the farmers market, and after school adventures in Mr. Schaetzl’s workshop in the basement. I remember John having a great sense of humor. He loved to laugh, and he enjoyed making others laugh. I’m grateful I was able to reconnect with John upon his family’s return from Singapore. Our friendship didn’t skip a beat, and I enjoyed listening to him describe his experiences in Singapore. My hope is that those who are close to John will find some comfort in knowing that his pain and suffering has ended. He may be gone in body, but not in mind and spirit, and never to be forgotten. May God gently cradle John’s soul...

I will always remember John as Richie and Tommies little brother. I can see him now in my mind as a young boy. He was Shy, cute and sweet. It is with a heavy heart I say to you John is seated with the Lord now. All of his battles are over. May God grant u all peace.
Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice! Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.
