Mary I. Svihovec, a beloved matriarch and lifelong nurturer, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025, at the remarkable age of 100. Born on January 12, 1925, Mary built a life centered on love, family, and community.
Mary was the devoted wife of the late William Svihovec and a loving mother to her son William and his wife Suzanne. Affectionately known as "Pama," she was a cherished grandmother to Patricia Kiernan (Bryan), Brian (Kelly), and Eric (Christine). Her joy multiplied in her role as "Great-Pama" to eight adoring great-grandchildren: Brenna, Brody, Brayden, Ashton, Riley, Gavin, Carter, and Emma.
Family was the heart of Mary's life. Her happiest moments were spent surrounded by loved ones, whether sharing stories, creating memories, or simply offering her warm, reassuring presence. She was a proud member of the Seniors Club of Lake Grove, where she found friendship and fulfillment in community activities. Mary was also known for her love of knitting and arts and crafts, often creating beautiful, heartfelt gifts for her grandchildren.
Visitation services will be held at O. B. Davis Funeral Homes, located at 1001 Route 25A, Miller Place, NY 11764, on Sunday, July 13, 2025, from 2:00–4:00 PM and 7:00–9:00 PM. A religious service will take place at the same location on Monday, July 14, 2025, from 10:00–11:00 AM, followed by interment at Calverton National Cemetery, Wading River, NY 11792.
Mary's legacy of love, kindness, and quiet strength will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
