On Thursday, July 30, 2026, our hearts shattered as we learned of the passing of our beautiful, sweet Mellissa.

Mellissa loved her children more than anything else in this world, working tirelessly to ensure they had the best of everything. She was the best mother, daughter, Wife, sister, aunt, and friend to everyone blessed to have known her. As the life of the party, her remarkably kind and warm nature brightened every room she entered. She truly loved life and showed us all how to enjoy it.

She had the biggest heart, serving as everyone's biggest supporter, cheerleader, and nurturer, while providing us all with guidance and protection. There are no words to describe the ache in our hearts. We are deeply broken and yearn for her presence, touch, and infectious laughter.

While we are saddened that she will not be here to see her children graduate high school, go to college, and raise their own families, we know she will be their angel, watching over and guiding them from above.

Thank you to all of our family and friends who have reached out during this difficult time. Please continue to pray for our family, especially her children, who need our collective community to surround and support them right now.

May God grant her the peace she needed, and may she feel the love she poured into everyone come back to her. She is now with God, where there is no more pain. May her soul rest in eternal peace.

Obituary

With profound sadness and unwavering faith, we celebrate the life of Mellissa B. Cook, who entered into eternal rest on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at the age of 51.

Mellissa was the devoted wife of Vincent Cook and the loving mother of her beloved twins, Lauren and Anthony Cook, who were the greatest joy of her life. She dedicated herself to providing them with every opportunity to succeed and took immense pride in watching them grow into honor students.

Known for her warm smile, generous heart, and joyful spirit, Mellissa was adventurous, compassionate, faithful, hardworking, and selfless. She had a gift for making others feel loved and was truly the life of every gathering. Whether caring for family, friends, coworkers, or patients, she gave of herself wholeheartedly.

A lifelong believer in the importance of education, Mellissa graduated with honors, earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and built a distinguished career as a Registered Nurse. A life dedicated to serving and saving others, she became an Assistant Nurse Manager at St. Charles Hospital, and also a Nurse Supervisor at Medford Multicare Center. She considered nursing more than a profession—it was her calling to serve others with compassion, dignity, and kindness.

Outside of her career, Mellissa embraced life to the fullest. She loved dancing, traveling throughout the Caribbean and Europe, and creating cherished memories with her family on cruises. She dreamed of retiring early so she could spend more time enjoying life with those she loved most.

Mellissa leaves to cherish her precious memory her husband, Vincent Cook; her beloved twin children, Lauren and Anthony Cook; her mother, Floris Turner; her siblings, Sean Campbell and Meesha Geohagen; her nephews, Akiem Small and Sean Campbell Jr.; her aunt Pam; her cousins, Sallie, Gary Smith and Jerome Williams; her best friend Sherene; along with a host of extended family members, dear friends, coworkers, and all whose lives were blessed by her love and kindness.

Although her life was cut far too short, Mellissa leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, service, and compassion that will continue to inspire all who knew her. While our hearts grieve her absence, we find comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of the Lord.

Mellissa's beautiful spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be forever cherished, deeply missed, and never forgotten.

Visitation will be held at O. B. Davis Funeral Homes, 1001 Route 25a, Miller Place, NY 11764, US, on August 12, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm & 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a 7:15 pm Prayer Service.
