Philip R. Furlano

Philip was the beloved husband of the late Judith A. Furlano. Together they shared 33 wonderful years of marriage after meeting at a Catholic retreat in upstate New York. Their relationship was built on faith, friendship, and a deep love that remained steadfast throughout their lives.

A man of remarkable character, Philip was adventurous, compassionate, generous, hardworking, humorous, kindhearted, loyal, resilient, thoughtful, wise, intelligent, and strong-willed. His quiet strength and genuine concern for others touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Philip was a dedicated professional whose career reflected both his intellect and his passion for helping others. He worked as an aerospace engineer before pursuing his love of education as a mathematics teacher at Half Hollow Hills High School West. He later continued inspiring students as an SAT tutor, taking great pride in helping young people achieve their goals.

Outside of his career, Philip embraced many interests that brought him joy. He was an avid coin collector and enjoyed collecting baseball and football cards. He found peace in gardening, loved spending time on the golf course, and was a dedicated jogger. Philip also enjoyed traveling, playing cards with good friends, attending Tuesday movie matinees, and relaxing on his porch while watching the birds. A devoted animal lover, he had a special affection for cats.

Above all else, Philip treasured his family. Nothing brought him greater happiness than spending time with his four beloved grandchildren, creating memories they will forever hold close to their hearts.

Philip is survived by his loving daughters, Cynthia Wink and her husband, Lee, and Kristine McLaughlin and her husband, Scott. He was the proud and devoted grandfather of Ryan, Alex, Richard, and Jillian.

He is also survived by his brother, Daniel; his nieces and nephews, Keith, Jaclyn, Matthew, John Richard, Lisa, and Ian; and his cousins, Earl and Drake, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him deeply.

Philip will be remembered for his generous heart, gentle wisdom, quiet humor, and the countless lives he enriched through his kindness, guidance, and unwavering love. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held at O. B. Davis Funeral Homes, 1001 Route 25a, Miller Place, NY 11764, US, on July 14, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm & 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
