
Robert Joseph Annitto, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and public servant, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2025. He was a man whose life was marked by dedication—to his family, his community, and his fellow servicemen and women.
Robert shared 54 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Catherine. Together, they built a life grounded in love, commitment, and family. He was the proud father of four cherished daughters: Maureen (Frank) Vieira, Tricia (Louis) Grassi, Tracy (Stephen) Nicosia, and Kerry Annitto (Sibby Nicotra). His legacy continues through his adored grandchildren: Gabriela Vieira, Brendan Grassi, Lia Nicosia, and Nicholas Nicosia, each of whom brought him immense pride and joy.
A graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science, Robert devoted his career to service, retiring as a New York City Police Officer. His commitment to protecting and supporting his community extended well beyond his professional life. He served as a volunteer fireman for over 20 years in Rocky Point, NY, and for 17 years in Ridgeway, NJ.
Robert’s life was rich with passion and involvement. He was an avid photographer and an active member of numerous organizations, including the Gong Club in Jersey City, NJ, of which he was a proud Lifetime Member. He served as past president of the Jersey Shore 10-13 and was affiliated with the SPAAMFAA (Society for the Preservation and Appreciation of Antique Motor Fire Apparatus in America), the Long Island Fire Photographer Association, and the NYPD Honor Legion and the Fraternal Order of Police. He contributed regularly to Fire News and gave his time generously to the Brookhaven Volunteer Firefighters Museum.
Robert’s unwavering dedication, selfless service, and vibrant spirit touched the lives of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and the many communities he served throughout his life.
