Bob shared an extraordinary love story with his beloved wife, Jeraldine “Jeri.” Their journey together began at Orchard Beach in the Bronx, NY, where fate first brought them together, and their love continued to grow and flourish over 62 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they built a life rooted in devotion, partnership, and family.
He was a proud and devoted father to his daughters, Jacqueline Messineo (Steven) and Jeannine Barr (William). Bob’s greatest joy was his family, and he was a cherished grandfather to Matthew, Samantha (Valentin), Robert, and Molly, and a proud great-grandfather to Sebastian, Scarlett, and Summer Rose. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
Bob served his country honorably as a member of the United States Navy from 1960 to 1964, a chapter of his life he carried with pride. Following his military service, he built a respected career as an electrical engineer for the FAA, and as a maintenance mechanic at Rikers Island and Bronx House of Detention. Known for his remarkable skill and determination, Bob truly could fix a rainy day, always ready to lend his hands and heart to help others.
He was a proud member of his local American Legion chapter and enjoyed a full life enriched by his many passions. Bob loved fishing and snorkeling, traveling to new places, collecting baseball memorabilia, woodworking, and above all, spending time with those he loved.
Those who knew Bob would describe him as beloved, compassionate, gentle, hard-working, kind-hearted, resilient, and selfless. His quiet strength, warm smile, and steady presence brought comfort and inspiration to all who knew him.
Bob’s legacy lives on in the family he loved so deeply and the countless lives he touched. He will be forever missed, lovingly remembered, and always carried in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
