To the Rice/Nelson family.
In our month long stay at Miller Place last year we never had the privilege of meeting dear Mrs Rice. This is not to say however, that we didn't know her!
Through her daughter Michelle and her grandchildren Kanen, Kayloni & Owen, it was easy to get a sense of the amazing woman she was.
Born the youngest of 12 here in England, I recognise that incredible sense of 'family' which could only have been passed down through the generations!
I get the impression of a matriarch, a wise and unconditionally loving, true lady, worthy of the title.
Mrs Rice, you can rest now, in the knowledge that your job here was done and could not have been done better. You raised an amazing family, one I am proud and privileged to call friends.
To Michele, Kurt and the remaining family members, you too can rest now in the knowledge that you gave the best possible love and care to wonderful lady.
Our blessings are with you all and so much love is coming across the pond!

I remember your mother quite fondly. She had such a warm, calming and peaceful energy. I am sincerely sorry for your loss and you have my heartfelt condolences. The world has lost a great spirit.

Dear Grandma,

I am so blessed to have had the privilege of being your granddaughter. I always admired your elegant air and hoped I'd grow up to become a graceful young woman that would one day make you proud. Hearing your story of leaving Barbados in your early twenties to live in a completely foreign country inspired me to do the same- always keeping my mind open for new experiences and opportunities. You were a part of my life for exactly 27 years and I wish we had more time together. You always told me every morning before I left home, "Don't let anybody steal your joy." Rest assured that no one ever will.

Heaven gained the most beautiful, considerate, and loving soul the day my grandma left us. I had the pleasure of having her nearby for every step of my childhood all the way into my young adulthood. I will forever cherish the time we spent together. Every last second of time. Though no longer with us physically, the memories will never die. You live on in all of us. I love you grandma.

My best memory was dancing with Auntie Ione in 2010 when I came home for Michele’s birthday party, we had a great time. I’m sending my prayers and condolences to Michele and her immediate family.      Love Ann Marie

Ucil Rice, or as I knew her ‘Grandma’, was a beautiful and kind soul. I wouldn’t be the man I am today if it wasn’t for her guidance and teachings. And while we mourn here, I can at least take solace in knowing that heaven just got one of the best angels it could have asked for.
