

William Barry Coveney Sr., fondly known as "Captain Bill," passed away on October 28th, 2024, leaving a legacy of love, adventure, and dedication to family and friends. Born with an endless passion for life and the sea, Bill made it his mission to live every day like it’s your last.
Captain Bill leaves behind his beloved wife, Sharon Genise Coveney, with whom he shared 11 joyful years of marriage. He is survived by his cherished children: William Barry Coveney Jr. and his wife Christine. Daughters Alexa Rae Coveney, Taylor Rose Coveney, and Tyeaka L. Washington. His light lives on in his adored grandchildren, Madison Heaven-Li Johns and Milan Rico Lopez. Bill is also mourned by his loving sister Diane LoCorriere (husband Frank), sister-in-law Muriel Washington-Snell (husband Earl), Willie Genell Durdin (husband Robert), and Hattie Anderson. His godson Davian Josiah Ramos, along with his best friend Garret Schol and wife Sue, also hold his memory close, as do numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends who were blessed by his warmth and spirit.
Bill's life was rich with varied talents and pursuits. He worked as a machine mechanic at Entenmann’s Bakery, served as a Marine Terminal Operator at Global Partners LLC, and excelled as a mechanic, marine captain, and engineer. Known for his meticulous skill and resourcefulness, he could fix and rig anything that needed attention—from boats and cars to household items. His heart belonged to the water, where he spent countless hours boating, jet skiing, water skiing, and even running his own fishing charter, Captain Bill’s Express.
Captain Bill was a man of boundless energy and a true lover of life’s simple joys. He filled his days with bike rides, walks, picnics, and fine dining, often dancing the night away and celebrating with those he held dear. His love for fishing, rehabbing boats, and gathering for good times made him a steadfast, friend and a beloved family man.
