I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of such a great, though distant relative. William John Moore did have a great influance on my life however. It started back in 1964 when at age 5, I first met him, and even then I looked up to and respected him. He over the years demonstrated that a man could serve his country, and his community, and do so while adhearing to the principles of his faith. The second time I saw him was after I had joined the Navy, and I was visiting in New York. I introduced him to my wife and I will never forget his horse giving her a kiss. We all had a good laugh. Sadly, our only other contacts were by phone. But he always was an encouragement, and as those close to him know, he never lost his love for the United States Navy. I in pat joined the Navy because of him... and later on when I went into Law Enforcement it was in part because I always respected him. I did not know him well, as our families were so far apart. But the few times we did meet, and the conversations we did have were ones that I admit had great influance on me. TO his family I know you have many wonderful memories, and blessings. he lived his life as he chose to, with honor, and it was indeed an honor to have met him, even so briefly.
