Mrs. Vivian Malak, of Laurel Gardens, Pittsburgh, PA, peacefully went to heaven on Monday, June 15, 2020 at the age of 97. Vivian Blair Malak (Pegram) was born March 24, 1923. Born in Williamson, WV, she was the daughter of Clayton and Dorothy Pegram and had two sisters Bethel (Gene)Trent and Maxine Pegram. In early 1945 Vivian began receiving letters from a handsome young medic in the Army, Johnnie. After World War II, he went to meet her family in Virginia, then she went to Pittsburgh to meet his family, and on the third meeting they married on December 14, 1945 in Roanoke, VA. After marrying, Vivian settled with her husband John Malak of 41 years in her beloved home in Laurel Gardens, Pittsburgh, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband John, parents, siblings, and son-in-law Doug Davis Jr. Known as ‘Gram’ to everyone she met, Vivian was always strong, fun, loving, and kind. She was an excellent role model. She loved working as a lunch lady at North Hills High School for 21 years. Gram loved shopping, traveling, square dancing with the Y Knots, was a Steelers fan, enjoyed playing cards & bingo and watching General Hospital. The joy she found in the simple things in life has been an inspiration to all who meet her. Gram is forever remembered by her daughters, Suzanne Farber, Barbara (Bob) Gahring & Dottie (late Doug Jr.) Davis; her 7 grandchildren Cindy (Scott) Riley, Jeffrey Szalkuski, Brian (Megan) Gahring, Brandon Gahring, Ben (Christina) Gahring, Doug (Lara) Davis III, and Jessica (Mike) Hartman; 10 great grandchildren Sara Riley, Shawn Riley, Sidney Gahring, Jesse Gahring, Kasen Hartman, Colton Hartman, Lylah Hartman, Kinley Hartman, Douglas Davis IV, and John Gahring; her nieces Unita (Tom) Tomlin, Doris Jean Miller and other loving relatives and friends.
