Alexis Anne Carol, 74, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2024 by Lake Tahoe. Alexis was born on September 13, 1949 in New Haven, CT and held precious memories of growing up by the ocean in Morris Cove with her extended Italian-Sicilian family, as the daughter of Carolyn Rascati (Girardi) and Alexander Rascati. She is predeceased by her parents, her brother Edward Rascati and most recently this past December, her brother Salvatore Rascati.
A radiant and beloved mother, grandmother, wife and United Methodist minister, Alexis led churches in Colorado, California, New Haven, Rocky Hill and Rowayton, CT. In addition to her pastoral work, Alexis was an adjunct professor of Business Ethics and Religion in the Workplace at Quinnipiac University and a leadership consultant. Alexis earned her undergraduate degree from Albertus Magnus College and graduate degrees from Yale Divinity School and San Francisco Theological Seminary. She also studied extensively at Oxford University in England, La Sorbonne in Paris and Ilif School of Theology in Denver.
Alexis was a trailblazer, a peacemaker and a proud Democrat. A pastor who embodied unconditional love, Alexis improved the lives of many through her deep spiritualism, impassioned sermons and tireless counseling. Alexis was also an accomplished musician and singer who traveled the world, explored the outdoors (including many of our national parks on horseback) and spent the later years of her life aligning to blue sky weather with her husband, John. Together the couple traversed America with most of their time shared between Sarasota, FL, Palm Springs, CA and Alexis’ favorite place on Earth, Lake Tahoe.
Alexis is survived by her devoted husband, John, her children who cherish her deeply, Kristin Carol Sidorak, Stephen Alexander Sidorak, and Alissa Anne Wood, her granddaughter Ava Alexis Wood, her sisters Bernadette Higgins and Karen Gill, and extended family in the New Haven area and beyond. Private services will be held at St. Lawrence Cemetery in West Haven, CT. The family requests messages of sympathy and loving memories of Alexis or “Lex” be shared here or with her youngest daughter, Kristin, at [email protected].
