Arlene was born in Pittsburgh, PA to Bernard and Gertrude Hoffman. She was the second and only girl of four children. Arlene began dating her then to-be husband, Thomas Becker, while in high school. They were married in 1958. They later relocated to Fullerton, CA where they raised their four sons. They retired to Gardnerville in 1995.
She was a loving and devoted mother who often participated in her children’s scout and sports activities. Her involvement in Pop-Warner started her lifelong love of NFL football. The family enjoyed camping and Arlene was always there roughing it with the boys, chugging up the trail, and even backpacking. As her children got older, she went back to school, got her college degree, and started working in banks and as an office manager. To Tom she was a loving wife. Together they traveled the world and their love of music took them to many operas and concerts. As a grandmother she (and Tom) did all they could to nurture their six grandchildren, helping with their education, taking them on cultural and historical travel, and always encouraging them. To friends and acquaintances, she was a “sweet and lovely” lady.
Arlene was predeceased by her husband, Thomas, her two brothers, Jacob and Donald, and two sons, Donald and Philip.
She is survived by her brother, Robert, two sons, Doug (Sandy) and David (Rosa), and her grandchildren, Carli, Jessalynn, Nicole, Jeffrey, Keith, and Jarrod.
