On October 17, 2022, Florence “Nina” Tortomasi passed away quietly in her home. She was preceded in death by her parents Peter and Esther Falabrino and her brothers Michael and Joseph Falabrino. She is survived by her three children, Jim, Dan, and Lisa, three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was born in San Gabriel on June 6, 1924. She lived her life devoted to others. Nina joined the Coast Guard during WWII. After raising her children and caring for her parents, she volunteered at the local hospital and arboretum.
Her tenderness and sense of humor made her a favorite to her many life-time friends. She loved nature, could grow anything in her beautiful garden, made any Italian dish melt in your mouth, and never forgot to send a loved-one’s birthday card.
She lived the first 94 years of her life in the San Gabriel Valley . And though she still stunned most everyone with her youthful beauty and extremely sharp mind, her declining health moved her to Nevada to live with her devoted daughter where she passed away at 98 years surrounded by her loving family.
