Gone too soon... Mark Vernon Page and Melissa JoeAnn Page of Yerington, NV have passed away. Mark passed on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at the age of 57. Mark was born on May 23, 1964 in the San Fernando Valley, CA where he lived with his family until 1968. His family then relocated to North Lake Tahoe in 1970. His mother later remarried and the family moved to Carson City, NV in 1971, where Mark grew up and completed all his schooling. As a youth, Mark was a smart, popular student who enjoyed basketball, building model airplanes, and motor sports. In high school, Mark discovered his career path in the machinist trade, as well as, his future wife Melissa Broersma from Gardnerville, NV. After graduating from Carson High School in 1981, Mark and Melissa married in 1984. In the years that followed, they had two sons and Mark continued his work as a CNC Programmer for over 40 years in Northern Nevada and California. Mark had a life-long passion for dirt track racing, motorsports, the outdoors, riding his side-by-side in rural Nevada, and his dogs. But what Mark loved most was his family – and he was a devoted husband and father. Mark will forever be missed, but never forgotten. He is preceded in death by his father Noel Vernon Page, his step-father Ross Price, his sister Julie Wingfield. He is survived by his two beloved sons Scott and Sean Page, their spouses Kristin Griffith and Kerri Page, his mother Arlene Price, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss him dearly.
Mark’s wife of 37 years, Melissa (Missy) JoeAnn Page, also passed away on Monday, April 11, 2022 at the age of 56. Melissa was born on August 8, 1965 in Reno, NV and was adopted by the Broersma family of Gardnerville, NV. As a child, Melissa enjoyed exploring the outdoors with her father and brothers and, like any good kid sister, she was known to drink all the hot chocolate they packed on their adventures! As a teen, she was her brother Eric’s “wing-man,” often cruising around the Carson Valley, and eating cheeseburgers in the park. Over the years, Melissa worked a variety of jobs to help support their family, most recently working as a youth counselor at a residential treatment facility and as a food service worker for Lyon County School District. Melissa loved her dogs, country music, hiking, kayaking, and the outdoors. She was known to regularly feed “her” hummingbirds and tend to the many critters that she encountered on their Yerington property. Like Mark, Melissa loved her family most of all and was an exceptional mother and wife. Her love lives on in the beautiful family she built. Melissa is preceded in death by her mother, DeVonna Broersma. She is also survived by her two sons Scott and Sean Page, their spouses Kristin Griffith and Kerri Page, her father Bill Broersma, her brothers Mike Broersma, Eric Broersma, Billy Broersma, Jim Broersma, her aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
The family would like to thank the many dedicated ICU and hospital staff at Carson Tahoe Regional Hospital in Carson City, NV and Kaiser Permanente in Roseville, CA. We are forever grateful for the compassionate care you showed Mark and Melissa, and our family, in their final days. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service and details will be available shortly on this website.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Mark and Melissa’s honor to the Arbor Day Foundation, the High Sierra Animal Rescue, or your local SPCA.
