

Thomas H Rainville was born at home in Deer Lodge, MT on October 27, 1930 to Hector and Margaret Rainville, joining his siblings Cleo, Robert, Jeanette, and George.
Tom grew up in Deer Lodge, MT and attended St Mary’s Academy and Powell County High School.
He was employed by the Milwaukee Railroad until serving in the US Army, achieving the rank of Second Lieutenant during the Korean War.
He married his first wife, Margaret Steinberger, on October 30, 1954 and adopted her daughters Jody, Billie Kay and Margaret. They had two children together, Ross and Renee. After Margaret’s death in 1985 he married Mary Davis Watson Joy, who had two daughters Janne and Jannette.
He attended the University of Montana earning a Bachelor’s Degree in business, majoring in Accounting.
He had his own accounting practice prior to joining the Deer Lodge Bank and Trust Company. He was employed in Great Falls, MT at the First National Bank of Great Falls prior to moving to Everett, WA as the Cashier at the Bank of Everett. He advanced to the rank of Chief Executive Officer prior to the bank being merged with Rainier National Bank where he served as Senior Vice President. He then organized American First National Bank as Chairman of Board, Chief Executive Officer, and President.
Rotary became very much a part of his life and he served as President of the Rotary Club of Everett, and as District Governor and served as representative for the district at the Council of Legislation.
He was one of the organizers of the General Hospital Foundation and served on the board of directors for Providence Hospital, Snohomish County Physicians Corporation, King County Medical Blue Shield, Regence Group Blue Shield, Puget Sound Kidney Center, Cascade Bank, and Washington Physician Service as well as many non-profit organizations including Boy Scouts, Big Brothers, Junior Achievement, Red Cross, YMCA, American Cancer Society among others. He was the Washington representative to the Independent Bankers Association of America and was a founding director of the Washington Intermediate School of Bankers.
He is survived by his children, ten grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
