Audrey Louise Tarasar Betzold

Funeral services will be held at Sunset Funeral Chapel on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at 1:00 with a visitation from 11:00 to 12:45 at the chapel. Internment will be held at Hillside Cemetery directly after the service.

Audrey was born on July 6, 1936, in Rockford, Illinois to Robert H and Marion L (Stone) Stewart. She attended Edison High in Minneapolis. She was married to Donald (Don) P Tarasar, on September 19, 1953 in Minneapolis. Don passed away in 1975. Audrey later married Gerald (Jerry) A Betzold on February 14, 1984, who passed away in 2015.

Audrey and Don owned a popular local restaurant/dance hall and then an A&W franchise together. Later she worked at Pillsbury in Minneapolis in Research and Development. She was also a Unit Secretary at North Memorial Hospital, Minneapolis and Unity Hospital, Fridley. In her later years, Audrey enjoyed knitting, painting, crafting, and especially spending time with her 2 dogs, Olly and Buster.

Audrey is survived by her children, Donna (Allen) Mattson of Las Vegas, NV, Douglas (Pamela) Tarasar, of Emily, MN, and Steven (Joan) Tarasar of Evergreen, CO; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; her step-mother Dolores Stewart of Watkins, MN; her brother Robert Stewart (Gail Wilke) of Minneapolis, sister Cheryl Petersen of North Liberty, and step-sister Joyce (Kori) Leske of Hutchinson, MN. In addition to her parents and husbands she was preceded in death by her daughter Linda Kay Tarasar.

We would like to thank Compassus Hospice Care nurses Kari and Tyler who gave Audrey wonderful care and provided great comfort to her. Also, the entire UIHC Palliative team on the 7th floor who also provided excellent care and always treated her with dignity.
