

Died peacefully in St. Clare's nursing home in Mora, Minnesota, on November 1, 2016.
Bettie was born in Golden Valley, Minnesota, on September 25, 1920. Her mother was Grace Frances (Kirsch) Scott. Her father was George Emit Charland. She lived in Osseo, Minnesota, and then went on to St. Cloud University to become a teacher.
Bettie married Michael Korfiatis. Bettie and Michael were in the restaurant business since 1947. They owned and ran the Kemethese (a combination of two Greek words which literally mean "nice place to sleep" or "nice place to eat.") Motel and Restaurant in Elk River, Minnesota. They started the Kemethese on February 4, 1960 and Bettie kept it going until 1982 when she retired and moved to Plymouth, Minnesota. The Kemethese was best known for their Baklava (a rich pastry,) Greek-style chicken and Greek salad; everything was made from scratch. Bettie then worked at Byerly's and then Sam's Club handing out food samples.
Throughout Bettie's life she loved to travel with her church friends. Her favorite place was Hawaii. Bettie did a lot of volunteer work with her church friends as well. She was even an Evangelist of Billy Graham's crusaders, talking on the phone to people from all over the nation. Bettie loved God and knew her Bible well. She belonged to the Faith Baptist Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Bettie was preceded in death by her Mother, Grace Frances (Kirsch) Scott; Father, George Emit Charland; Husband, Michael Korfiatis; Sisters, Georgine Charland, Mary Walentiny; Brother, George Charland.
Bettie is survived by her Siblings, Mildred Garland, Robert Charland, Emilie Coffman, Sally (Bob) Sjolin and Dorothy Jensen. She is additionally survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and friends.
