

She courageously battled pancreatic cancer, leaving behind a life filled with love, laughter, family, friendship, and countless cherished memories.
Cheri grew up on the East Side of St. Paul and carried with her a warmth and kindness that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. She was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Cheri had a special gift for bringing joy and light into the lives of others. Her laughter, generous spirit, and love for her family and friends will be deeply missed.
Above all, Cheri treasured the people she loved. She spent a lifetime creating beautiful memories with her family and friends—memories filled with laughter, love and moments that will be cherished forever. Those memories will continue to bring smiles and comfort to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Cheri is survived by her loving husband, Dennis Eck; her son, Jeremy Eck, his wife, Emily Eck, and their dog, Chloe; and her daughter, Chelsey Eck, and her dog, Joe. She is also survived by her sisters, Sandy Selby, Judy (Tom) Reily, and Carol (Don) Pankratz; and her brother, John (Janene) Heider. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Bill and Clara Heider.
Service Details - Family and friends are invited to gather to remember and celebrate Cheri’s life on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at Sunset Funeral Home, 2250 St. Anthony Blvd NE, Minneapolis, MN 55418. Memorial Visitation: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Memorial Service: 12:00 PM
Procession & Committal Service: 1:00 PM - Placing of the urn in the mausoleum
A Celebration of Life honoring Cheri will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2026. Family and friends are invited to gather to share favorite stories, laugh about the good memories, and raise a glass to a life beautifully lived.
Casual attire is welcome. Appetizers and refreshments will be served. When: Sunday, October 11, 2026, from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM Where: The Atrium at Rudy’s Redeye Grill 4940 Hwy 61 N, White Bear Lake, MN
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in Cheri’s memory to organizations supporting pancreatic cancer research or diabetes support.
Cheri’s life was a gift to all who knew her. Though she will be missed more that words can express, her love, laughter, and the beautiful memories she created will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
