It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our beloved mother, Claudia Globa Edgar. Claudia died peacefully on April 29th in her home in Surprise, AZ at the age of 82. She was a warrior and conquered many obstacles throughout her life. Claudia was born in Borschivka, a small village near Kharkiv, Ukraine in 1936. Her long journey to the United States took her through slave labor and displaced persons camps in Germany during WWII and Buenos Aires, Argentina, eventually settling in Minneapolis, Minnesota when she was 21 years old. She met and married the love of her life, Eugene (Gene) Edgar on June 24, 1964 and tragically lost him just 6 short years later. After Gene’s passing, Claudia devoted her life to raising their 4 children. In her later years, she lived in San Diego, California, Sun City and Surprise, Arizona. Claudia loved flowers and was an avid gardener - Roses were her specialty. She was active in the sisterhood of her Ukrainian Orthodox Church and was passionate about her Ukrainian heritage. Claudia was preceded in death by her husband Eugene M. Edgar, parents Ilarion and Evdokia Globa, brother Mike Hloba, and sister Valentina Turkovich. She is survived by brothers Anatoli (Theresa) Globa, Victor Globa and sister Maria (Fedir) Hajovy, daughters Sonya Edgar, Natalia (Todd) Ribbe, Darlene (Bill) Loznycky, and Marlene Young, grandchildren Larissa Young, Kayla Young, Lesia Loznycky, Natalia Loznycky, as well as many nieces and nephews.
