So sorry to hear of Dave's passing.  Had many good memories.  Our deepest sympathy.

Mr Wentzel was my fifth grade teacher at Kenwood in 1994.
I still remember him teaching us about astronomy and the presidents. 
One of my favorite teachers of all time.
He will be missed. We lost a great man.

 Death can be one of lifes worst surprises. David's loss to us all cannot be measured. Cousin Robin ( Tredway )Fischer David's oldest cousin was as shocked as Kandis ( Fischer ) Cook and husband Dennis, Robin's daughteer and son in law. were upon getting Jan's email this morning informing us of David passing. 
 Always a gentleman with a humorous side of pun induced creativity that had to make him one of the best teachers any of his students ever had. 
 He as a person should be and we're sure will be a benchmark for all of those who knew and loved him. God's speed David we and the rest of the Fischer family all loved you.

My deepest sympathy, Jan, for your loss.  May God give you and all of Dave's family peace and comfort.  You are in my prayers.

My fifth grade teacher I will never forget you. He was the one who taught me google was a number not a search engine, when he wrote a 1 with a hundred zeros on the chalk board and asked us what it was. He made learning so fun! May he rest in peace, he will be missed.

I knew David way back when we were kids
at Powderhorn Park Baptist Church, our parents were friends. I have not seen him in years. I know there is a joyful reunion in heaven with all those Powderhorn friends and other relatives that have gone before. My prayers and sympathy to the family, may God give you comfort and peace.

We were blessed to become friends with Dave and Jan when they would come down to Nashville and stay in our guest apartment. We will miss Dave. Praying God's peace.

When Dave joined our family, he lovingly took on three more daughters and two granddaughters. He welcomed a new grandson, my son, with open arms this year. He brought amazing new joy to my mom and they were beautiful to watch together. He was such an amazing example of a godly father, husband and grandpa. I am truly blessed to have called him dad for five years. He will be so incredibly missed by all who knew and loved him. We love you Dave!

So sorry to hear of the loss of your father, Heidi, Jon and Amy.  We have very fond memories of your Dad.  We did a neighborhood bible study together. I always knew we could stop in any time on our walks around the neighborhood to have a chat. You are too young to lose both of your parents. May God feel near and may he hold you in his embrace as you grieve your loss.

Jan and Family your Husband/Father/Grandfather was such a wonderful man, may god bring you all piece and rest in the coming days. He will be missed by all, With Love Jack, Carren, Monique, James and Jill LaBrasseur.

What can I say - I am honored to have called Dave "Dad."  He was my husband's best friend, and my children's hero.  His love, wisdom and grace has been poured into my life for 15 years and I am a better woman, wife and mother for it.  He is irreplacable and will be greatly missed.

I have been friends with Lorissa and her family since we were in 7th grade (Liss and I are now 32 and 33!). I am so sorry for the family's loss. I have never seen them happier than when this amazing Dave was in their life. Thinking of you all and hope the wonderful memories and times you had together somehow make this difficult situation a little bit easier.

Mr. David Wentzel was a tutor, volunteer, mentor to many students at Hope Academy, and I am thankful to meet him and appreciate his encouragements to continue to trust and have faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. Heidi, Vince! Holly and Mitchell , One of my fondest memories of your dad and grandpa, is when he and your mom stopped by at the Christopher Inn when we were gathered for a St. Clair Christmas. We sang Christmas carols around the piano. That was many years ago, but still a good memory. Rejoicing now that he can sing those carols in heaven! Praying for all of you. Uncle Dave was the smartest uncle I know. Him and Auntie Dee used to take me to Sunday school with them every Sunday. He was always full of fun facts as well as silly jokes. I will miss him tonz! I wish I could have seen him more over the last few years. R.I.P. uncle I love you.

Dave you will forever remembered.  So many family gatherings to remember.  We loved you and will treasure the memories!

I haven't known David for very long but from what I saw he was a very nice and kind hearted person.  I would always see him and Jan out walking.  I just seen both him and Jan a few Days ago, and he looked good from what I saw.  He always had a smile for everyone.  He sounds like he was a really incredible person and touched many, many lives'  throughout his years here on earth.  David you will be missed by many!  Rest in Gods Peace!

I will always remember living with the Wentzel's when I was a troubled teenager.  They led me to accept Jesus Christ.  Thank you for that Uncle Dave. It is such a blessing to have been a part of the family.  I will treasure all my memories for as long as I live.

Amy and Kevin, I am so very sorry to hear about the passing of your father.  My prayers are with your family.   I also was a teacher for 45 years and loved the profession.   God bless all of you.

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

David was a great teacher!  He cared deeply for his students, kept his cool in tough situations and taught with an unmatched enthusiasm.  A respected and honorable man who will be greatly missed. To his family, remember the good and happy times AND remember how much you were LOVED.

We have so many great memories of times spent with the Wentzel family! He had a way of making everyone feel important and special, never wanting anyone to feel left out. I remember all the 4th of July picnics, the New's Years Day parties, graduations, weddings, dinners, etc... The conversations were always enjoyable with his added humor! Our love and heartfelt sympathies to all who mourn his passing. We cry with you...we love you! We will miss him!!

Mr. Wentzel was my teacher when Hale and Field schools were paired in 1971.  What an amazing time!  He had this radical idea that computers would someday be nearly everywhere, and that kids should learn how to program them.  I spent hours and days doing just that, often after school, inspired by the vision Mr. Wentzel laid out.  In my first ‘job' in junior high, he traded me computer time for helping other kids learn to program in summer school.  In high school I visited him often at Powderhorn elementary, and he honored me by attending my PhD defense in 1990.  Today I help design, build, and test microprocessors and microcontrollers used in the devices found all around us.  Not a day goes by without Mr. Wentzel's influence affecting my life.

I was lucky to know this wonderful man. He will be missed. We send our condolences to his family. Martha and Graham

I was in Mr. Wentzels 5th grade class at Kenwood. RIP Mr Wentzel!!... I know I probably drove u crazy more times than not but you were able to handle me... I'll never forget the days of standing with my head on the door for inturupting the class. Thanks for never being soft with me... I needed that. May u rest in peace!

Mr. Wentzel was my teacher at Kenwood in Mpls, we stayed in touch over the years well into my adult life. He showed his support by attending my college graduation. I will truly miss him.

I worked with Dave for a few years.  He was a very kind hearted person and always showed compassion for others. We had many conversations about his faith and I know that he is resting in peace with God. Blessings to his family. Dave was a wonderful person and will be missed.

I had the pleasure to work with Dave for a few years before he retired.  He was a generous pleasant man. Always coming to the office with a smile and words of wisdom.  God Bless to a wonderful spirit.

I went to Roosevelt with Dave.  I did talk with him at the reunions and I have had a few emails with him.  Dave was one of the nicest guys I ever knew and will miss talking with him.  Rest in Peace.
