I worked with Don Humphrey back in the 1980's at Network Systems and he was a lovely man to have as a colleague. My deepest sympathies to his family and friends.  Joanne Clark, Alexandria, VA

Don was my Father-in-law and I feel blessed and lucky to have known him.  He welcomed me into his family as his own.  He treated my children from another marriage as his blood grandchildren.  He will be so missed.

I spent some time this past week thinking about the Humphrey Family, remembering that the first time I met Mr. Humphrey was at a golf tournament.

Back in the late ‘70's and early ‘80's, his oldest son Paul, our friend John Corlett and I came up with the idea of organizing a golf tournament exclusively for bad golfers and those who had never played before.  Thus was born the infamous “JH&P Invitational Golf Tournament;” an excuse to gather our friends to drink as much beer as possible.  (Back in those non-politically correct pre-M.A.D.D. days, the slogan for our second annual tournament was “Drink and Drive at The JH&P.”)   As organizers, each of us was responsible for inviting 1/3 of the “players,” as the tournament served as a way for each other's circle of friends to meet and mingle.  One of Paul's invitees to the first tournament and every year after was his dad.  That John and I could never imagine inviting our own fathers to such an alcohol-fueled event (and then have them actually show up and whole-heartedly participate) says some things about Paul and his dad: 1) perhaps Paul did not have very many friends back then; 2) Mr. Humphrey's golf game was bad enough that he fit in with the rest of the “players;” and 3) Mr. Humphrey really knew how to have a good time.  More than anything though, I think it speaks volumes about of the enviable kind of loving, trusting and close relationship Mr. Humphrey had with Paul and the rest of his family.

I regret not being able to attend the celebration of his life this past week, but I hope the family knows that I was with them in spirit.  When I think of Mr. Humphrey, I will always remember his good and kind nature and the twinkle in his eye that was always there.  The world is a little bit less of a better place with him gone.

Don was a very gentle and kind man with a great sense of humor -- what a personality!   I will always have fond memories of our days at Network Systems.

Don was one of those individuals who everyone admired.  I had the best experiences of my Network Systems life making customer calls with Don.  When he spoke, everyone listened -- attentively I would add.  Just a beautiful human in every way.  God be with you Don, and with your loved ones.

Thank you for the 25 years together at Control Data and the many exciting fun times at Network Systems, including all the pig roast gatherings on Forest Lake. Don was like a father to me; I am a better person because of him. 
Don surely dwells within the House of the Lord and blessed so many in his earthly journey with happy fond memories. His halo of love and grace will be with us forever! Love you Don.

Don was one of smartest engineers I've worked with and a great boss.  He is proof that nice guys can win.

Don and I worked together at Network Systems Corporation for 15 years.  He was a fine professional, whose contributions to the success of the company were not exceeded by any of us.  I have fond memories of Don as a kind and caring person and family man.  June and I send our heart felt condolences to Carol and the family.

What a great person Don was. I will always have wonderful memories of him.
I have known Don for 50 of my close to 77 years. I worked for or co-worked with him, for 28 of those years. I will
surely miss him. The world is a lesser place with him gone.
