The world has lost a loving and creative spirit. Eileen Moehn Caldwell of St. Paul died peacefully with her family at her side on November 11, 2021, after a brief but heroic fight with COVID despite being vaccinated. Eileen was born on May 30, 1950, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, to Matthew and the late Sylvia (Delahunt) Moehn. A fighter from the beginning, Eileen and her twin sister Kathy survived and thrived despite being very premature.
Eileen was a 1972 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, where she cultivated her love of art and education. Eileen touched many lives as an educator and school administrator while earning multiple Master’s degrees at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. Eileen was an award-winning teacher who strove to connect with each student and make them shine. Above all, Eileen was devoted to her family and loved being “Mom” and “Nana”. She taught her children and grandchildren the importance of unconditional love that they will carry with them forever and ever.
Eileen is survived by her daughters: Katherine Diop and Regina Stower; sons-in-law: Aly Diop and Dan Stower; grandchildren: Karim, Madeleine, and Ayman Diop, Marissa and Alaina Stower; father: Matthew Moehn; brother Larry Moehn (Pat), brother-in-law Gene Hayes; and sisters: Barbara Schwartz (James), Kaye Shukosky (Joe), Monica Lisowe, Mary Daun (Roman); godchildren; many close nieces and nephews; and lifelong friends.
