She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, family member, and friend who enjoyed making memories with those she loved. Her family was always a priority, and she cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, cousins, and friends.
Eloise retired from the Minnesota Lung Center in 2019. Outside of work, she had a passion for music, especially The Eagles, and traveled around the country to see them perform. She loved sharing music with her children, taking Amanda to her first concert to see Michael Jackson and Shane to see Aerosmith. She also had a knack for winning radio contests, once winning a trip to the Bahamas!
She absolutely loved sunshine and warm destinations! From Florida and Hawaii to annual trips to Mexico and a memorable trip to Greece with friends. Back home, she enjoyed tending to the flowers on her deck and front steps, often spending hours watering them and relaxing outdoors on beautiful days.
Eloise was also known for her delicious Scotcharoo bars, sweet and sour ribs, and annual Christmas cookie baking. Her peanut blossom cookies were a family favorite!
Being a mom was one of Eloise’s greatest joys, and she loved being a grandma. Even during the difficult later years, she always wanted to know how Gabrielle and the boys were doing. Her love for family and staying connected to cousins and friends were truly an important part of her life.
Eloise was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Delores Kohnen; her brother, John Kohnen; and her infant daughter who passed away shortly after birth.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Amanda (Doug); her son, Shane (Nicole); her grandchildren Gabrielle, Brett, Tyler, Madalyn, and Abby; and her many cousins and extended family.
Services will be held at a future date.
