Frank William Smuda Jr.

November 26, 1932August 29, 2014

Smuda, Frank W., Jr.

at age 81, passed away in San Benito Texas on August 29, 2014.

Born November 26, 1932 to Frank W. Smuda Sr. and Blanche Smuda.

Survived by Wife Agnes; Children, Eleanor Carrano (Jeff) & Frank J. (Kathren); Grandchildren, Thomas Carrano (Beth) and Nicole Persing (Ted); and 3 Great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by Parents; Stepsister Dorothy; first Wife Louise & infant Son Tony.

Frank loved his family and, had just celebrated his 50th Wedding Anniversary in June. Within the past few years both of his Grandchildren were married and he and Agnes made a trip to Virginia to visit Ellie, Thomas, Beth and his three Great-grandchildren and would talk about the visit frequently. Family whether immediate or extended he always made time for them.

Frank has always been involved with the church, from being an AlterBoy, going to the Seminary and teaching CCD here. In his retirement years in Texas, Frank was a Eucharistic Minister, Lector, helped clean at Church, taught CCD, taught RCIA and was a close friend, confident and Advisor to his present Pastor. Frank shared in the Ministries of his church in Minnesota as well as at Queen of the Universe/St. Joseph. He loved the church family in the Valley and so appreciated the support given to us during the times of his illness. It was non-stop!

Frank was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy and joined the American Legion Post #555, Minneapolis, Minnesota., serving as Post Commander and also Advisior to the State Sons of American Legion. Frank loved to make people laugh. While bartending one time, he sent a discontent patron to the St. Anthony Cemetery for a drink that he had never heard of at the time, A Pink Pussycat. There also was the "cake on the roof of the car" incident that many people of his American Legion Family know. The Legion Family that knew Frank reached across the entire State of Minnesota and always made him smile.

Frank also did his son the greatest favor of changing his middle name. Here in nordeast you'll notice that the th isn't always pronounced and he would have been Frank W. Smuda the Turd.
