Gordy enjoyed golfing and bowling throughout his life, as well as Saturday night card games with couples from the neighborhood. He made many lifelong friends through these activities.
He supported his children’s sporting interests throughout the years by coaching and attending their many games. He spent countless hours on the hockey rink with Don and the softball field with Monica. He also enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters and going to their various school events.
He was a hard worker who proclaimed to have had over 30 jobs in his lifetime. One of those many jobs was working on the Mall of America while it was being built.
Gordy was also proud to have served in the Marines, from which he had many stories to share with us.
In his later years, Gordy was in and out of the hospital more than anyone should have to be. Fortunately, when trips to the hospital were necessary, he was taken there by the very caring paramedics and firefighters from St. Paul Fire Station #19. We appreciate their kindness during those difficult times.
The Family would also like to express its sincere gratitude and appreciation to Optage Hospice for their care during his final months.
Gordon is preceded in death by his wife Donna; parents, Norman and Glenna Best.
He is survived by his children, Donald Best and Monica (Jerry) Huddleston; grandchildren, Allison, Lauren and Lydia Best and Elizabeth and Hayden Huddleston; sister, Susan Lange and brother Larry (Carol) Best; and other loving family and friends.
