Irene and I were teaching colleagues at Monticello High School for many years. She was a top notch educator who showed sincere concern for all staff members and made a positive difference in students’ lives. I have fond memories of June 2003 when Irene served as a chaperone on my student trip to France and of all the plays we attended together at the Guthrie after we retired. Rest in peace, dear friend.

Sorry to hear about Irene. She was a good friend and car pool buddy. David babysat for my kids, they all loved him.

Irene had so much empathy and compassion. Teaching with her made my life much more enriched. I miss having “retired” lunches with her and hearing stories about Lila. My deepest sympathy to her family.

Dave , Beth , Lila and family,
Irene and I worked together in the Business Department for several years. In fact, I was a student teacher for Irene and Sylvia Hanson. Teaching with Irene was so much fun and she taught me so much. Her laugh and positive attitude were contagious! She loved teaching and loved her family. She had a kind heart and and a wonderful laugh. She was loved by her students and coworkers.
She will be missed and remembered.

I taught in Monticello from 1991 - 1998. I absolutely loved working with Irene. I loved her incredible energy she brought everyday. Anytime I needed help, she dropped everything to give a hand. I loved her laugh and sense of humor. She will be dearly missed by many of her former students and by her colleagues at Monticello.

I remember Irene as such a fun loving and caring educator. She was a caring teacher and a master at her craft. She was such a great help to me as a new teacher in the district trying to start a new alternative learning program at Monticello high school. Irene will definitely be missed by many.

I started teaching at Monticello High School in 1986 and remember Irene as a vibrant, caring teacher who's students really liked what she did in the business department. I was once asked to audit our Union's business records and found myself a bit "lost". Irene came to my rescue and took the project over with great professionalism!
She was missed when she retired and will be missed again now.
