age 76, of Stone Lake WI and St. Petersburg, FL. Beloved Husband, Dad, and Poppy, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2014. He was surrounded by family and had fought a short but noble battle with a brain tumor. Jim was born in Evanston, IL on April 2, 1938 to George and Mercedes Bollensen. He married Patricia Ann Bigham on November 25, 1961 and they have been lovingly & happily married for almost 53 years. After their marriage, they moved to Indiana. In 1968, the moved to Minnesota when James accepted a job for Northern States Power (now Xcel Energy), where he worked until he retired in 1998. After retirement, they moved to their lake home in Stone Lake, WI.
Jim was a happy man who always put his family first. He would help anyone, and was quick to lend a hand where one was needed and to share his talents and abilities. He had a great love for cars and collected and restored many in his lifetime. His greatest passion was his 1929 Packard and his 1908 Brush – which he was able to run with his sons in an antique car race in the summer of 2012. He also loved Mopars and had many of them over the years of his life. Jim and Patty were able to extensively travel throughout their lives together and made lasting memories visiting places all over the globe.
Jim is survived by Patty, his loving wife; son Eric & Laura Bollensen, their 3 daughters Maria, Victoria and Alyssa; son Marc & Angela Bollensen, their 3 daughters Nicole, Abigail and Natalie; daughter Emily Bollensen & husband Stefan Reuther, their 3 children Bill Bollensen, and Colin & Brielle Reuther; sister Gail & James Philip; brother-in-law Richard Bigham; many other relatives and cherished friends.
Memorials preferred to a charity that you are passionate about. Jim loved & respected all people & creatures, but was most passionate about his lake home where he planted hundreds of trees. Please consider planting a tree with your family to honor each other in his memory.
Special thanks to Heartland Hospice for their care of Jim.
