61, of Hugo, Minnesota died on Wednesday, April 20, in St. John’s Hospital.
Mike was a highly skilled technical programmer before debilitating illness and pain forced him into retiring early in life. Until then he enjoyed traveling, hunting, rock music, and music history. He was courageous to the point of being a daredevil. He would fearlessly try anything. Mike is remembered for his unique sense of humor, his love of family, and a generous spirit. He always made us laugh, even when he was so ill he couldn’t get of bed.
He is survived by Sherre, his wife of more than 40 years. Despite his illness Mike and Sherre traveled the world and he supported her in everything she did. Even Dressage which he thought was “like watching paint dry”. He is also survived by parents Joyce and Jim Collins, and siblings Judy, Joan, and John. Mike had many nieces and nephews, and each was precious to him.
Mike’s funeral, a celebration of his life, will be held on Tuesday, April 26, at the Wulff Funeral Home in St. Paul, MN.
Please send memorials to the Animal Humane Society in lieu of flowers.
