James Donald Johnson

He was born in Minneapolis to Kenneth and Marie Johnson on May 3, 1937. The family moved to St. Cloud, and moved back to Minneapolis when he was 10. Jim joined the US Navy and served for 20 years before retiring. He then worked for Hennepin County, retiring after 20 years. Jim married Kathleen "Kathy" on January 29, 1988 in Minneapolis.

Jim also was a charter school bus driver for 17 years before fully retiring.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father Clarence Harves; brother Gerald "Jerry" Johnson; sisters-in-law Vicky and Dorothy; and brother-in-law Donald.

Jim is survived by his wife, Kathy; daughter Laurie K. Johnson; grandson Tyler Nashick; sisters Donna Lunneborg and Janis "Jan" (Jim) Cook; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A mass of christian burial for James will be held Friday, October 27, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, 4030 Jackson St. NE, Minneapolis, MN 55421, with a visitation starting at 9:30 AM. An interment with military honors will occur at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, 7601 34th Avenue S, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55450 at 10:30 am on Monday, November 13, 2023.
