Lucio Solis Jr. was born to Ana Maria Solis and Lucio Solis Sr. at 6:40am on July 13th of 1975 at Woodland Medical Hospital in Woodland, California of Yolo County. Lucio was the youngest child of his parents and had two older siblings, Sandra Solis, the oldest sibling, and Esmerelda (Lala) Solis, the middle sibling. Lucio’s early life was spent living between Texas and California, but he primarily resided in Texas. In his teen years, he mostly went to California for seasonal work. In 1996, he came to Minnesota and started building his life here. A couple months after coming to Minnesota, he met his first wife, Carrie Little, through mutual connections and started a relationship with her. At the time, she was a new mom to her first daughter Desiree. Lucio quickly stepped up as her father-figure. From 1997-2006, Carrie and Lucio welcomed three more children; Lucio III, Miklo, and Destiny. Carrie and Lucio separated in 2011.
Elsi Lopez and Lucio Jr. met in 2005 as coworkers at Arandell. They knew of each other, but rarely interacted at first as they worked different shifts and led different lives. Many years later, they connected more and started dating in 2013, and soon after, married in 2014. From 2013-2020, Elsi and Lucio lived separately with their own children, but often joined their families together to spend time with each other doing things like going out to eat, window shopping, and hanging out with extended family. Lucio Jr. had a great relationship with Elsi’s parents and siblings. In 2020, Lucio and Elsi purchased their first home together in Brooklyn Park, MN, where they lived together along with Elsi’s daughter, Bridgett, and Lucio Jr.’s youngest daughter, Destiny. Lucio Jr. had three grandchildren. Jaydah Solis, oldest grandchild and daughter of his son Lucio III; and Zuri and Micah Johnson, children of his oldest daughter, Desiree. All grandchildren loved him dearly. He was known as grandpa, pops, and papa Lucio. Lucio Jr. was soon to be the grandpa of one more granddaughter on the way, of Lucio III.
Lucio Jr. was a very hardworking man who was committed to supporting his family as a provider. He worked as a Printing Machine Operator for the company Arandell, formally known as R.R Donnelley. He started with the company in 1998 and worked there for 27 years. Lucio Jr. was well-known at work among his coworkers, and led a lively workday keeping everyone smiling at all of his jokes. Two of his children, Miklo and Desiree, worked with him at this job temporarily. He has worked various jobs in different industries throughout his career, sometimes working multiple jobs at once.
Throughout his life, Lucio Jr. loved the simple pleasures of life, such as spending time with family and friends, cooking and eating good food, and taking care of his possessions like his cars and his home. He especially loved celebrating both Mexican and American culture, sporting the flags on clothing and as home decor. Some of his favorite restaurants included Texas Roadhouse and Famous Daves, and his favorite foods were burgers and tacos. Lucio Jr. enjoyed crafting, utilizing many different mediums such as wood, glass, and leather. He often made home decor for his own home and his loved ones homes, and had many different projects going at once. As a family man, he was there in support of his family for many of life's most important moments. Lucio Jr. was a witness to the wedding of Marieolos and Javier Lopez in December of 2023.
One aspect about Lucio Jr. that everybody who knew him loved was his sense of humor. No matter where he was, or who he was with, his witty remarks and jokes never failed to make you laugh. He used his humor to brighten others' paths on their darkest days. Lucio Jr. always knew how to turn negative experiences into positive ones.
He is survived by his mother, Ana Maria Solis; his wife, Elsi Noemi Lopez; the mother of his children, Carrie Gale Solis; children and step-children, Desiree Daniess Little, Lucio Solis III, Miklo Lee Solis, Destiny Delores Solis, and Bridget Janell Lopez; grandchildren, Jaydah Mercedes Solis, Zuri A’amorah Johnson, and Micah Eli Johnson; and sisters, Esmerelda (Lala) Solis and Sandra Solis.
