Margaret Corrine Sutton

She entered into the presence of her Savior, which was her hope and confidence. God’s faithfulness and grace sustained her.

Life and Legacy

Margaret will be remembered for her gentle humility, deep kindness, and servant-hearted love. Together with her husband, Howie, she created a home where people felt welcomed, cared for, and encouraged. Whether through a warm meal, a listening ear, or a thoughtful act of kindness, Margaret made others feel valued and loved.

She faithfully served beside Howie, using her gifts in sewing and in the kitchen to bless family, friends, and all who crossed her path. Her passing leaves a tender ache in the hearts of those who loved her, but her family is grateful for the cherished memories, her beautiful smile, the steady example of her faith, and the lasting testimony of a life poured out in love.

As a teenager, Margaret placed her faith in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for her sins and that through Him she was redeemed, justified, and made a child of the living God. Jesus was her strength, her example, her life, and her hope. During the middle and later years of their lives, Howie and Margaret were active members of Coon Rapids Evangelical Free Church.

Margaret’s quiet personality was marked by service. Her gifts were shown most beautifully in her love for her family, her home, the church, and the people around her. She was incredibly hospitable, welcoming friends, family, and strangers alike with thoughtful meals, beautiful baking, and genuine care.

A self-taught seamstress, Margaret began making and wearing her own clothes at the age of eight. Later in life, she took up quilting, a craft in which she excelled. She delighted in sewing and creating, using this beloved art to help many over the years through repairs, alterations, and handmade gifts. She also loved teaching and encouraging creativity in her daughters and granddaughters.

In the family’s early days at Church of the Open Door in Robbinsdale, Margaret helped start a Pioneer Girls Club, teaching and equipping young girls to learn practical skills they could enjoy and carry with them throughout life. She was often the first to come alongside others, quietly cooking and serving in the kitchen for church events, funerals, and weddings.

Margaret and Howie also lovingly cared for Margaret’s mother in their home after her stroke, making her a steady and familiar presence in family life. Margaret’s care for others was woven into the ordinary rhythms of home, family, and faith.

When her children were young, they could often find Margaret in her bedroom, on her knees beside a chair, with her Bible open—reading and praying alone. She was faithful in Bible studies and delighted in continuing to learn more. Margaret was a doer more than a talker, and marked Scripture passages about guarding her tongue and bringing her words to Jesus before speaking to others.

She trusted God for each day. Her family remembers how often she would say, “Leave that with God. I will not borrow worry for what has not even happened. God knows, and I’ll trust Him.”

Survived By; Terry Lynn (Michael) DeBoer, Stephanie (Paul) Stone, Debbie (George) Sontowski, Gregory (Bev) Sutton, 22 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, and Two great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, at New Hope Church, 4225 Gettysburg Ave. N.New Hope, MN 55428 Corner of Hwy. 169 and 42nd Ave. N.following a private burial. Memorial Service at 11:00am with a visitation one hour prior. Luncheon to follow at 12:00pm.

Margaret’s life was a quiet and faithful testimony to the grace of God. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her, and her family gives thanks for the hope that, because of Christ, they will see her again.
