Marlene was preceded in death by parents, Alvin and Florence Nelson.
She is survived by loving husband of 40 years, Harlow, daughters, Yvonne (Scott) Sievert and Gloria (David) Sather, 6 grandchildren – Katie (Isaac), Noah, Nathan (Sadie), Eric, Karin (Charlie), Daniel (Ella) - and 1 great grandchild, Samuel.
After the death of Marlene’s father when she was 4, Marlene and her mother moved to Willmar, MN, where she graduated from high school in 1952. She soon began working as an Operator for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, later known as US West Communications, and over her 37 year career advanced to the position of District Manager of Information Services.
Faith and family were very important to her. She was a member of Bloomington Covenant Church where she was active in choir and many other areas. She was a talented artist. She frequently took summertime painting classes in Grand Marais, MN, and has left us with many lovely water color paintings to enjoy.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Covenant Living of Golden Valley for their wonderful care. Memorials may be directed to Covenant Living Benevolence Fund, 5800 St Croix Ave N, Golden Valley, MN, or charity of donors’ choice. A celebration of Marlene’s life will be scheduled later this summer.
