

Marlene lived most of her life in the St. Paul area. She attended high school in Roseville and Maplewood Academy, a private Seventh-day Adventist high school in Hutchinson, MN. She later received a Cosmetology degree from St. Paul College and practiced in the field.
Marlene’s life was devoted to service. As a long-standing member of the St. Paul First Seventh-day Adventist Church, Marlene spent many years teaching children’s Sabbath School and helping to coordinate church potlucks. Separately, she also enjoyed serving as a home health aid.
Much of her devotion to service was also reflected in her marriage to Dr. Irv Berg, her nurturing devotion to raising her sons Bruce and Richard, and her love for her grandsons Kyle and Caleb.
Marlene also enjoyed much time with family at the family cabin in Crosslake, MN and enjoyed hosting guests in “the cities” and “up north”.
Preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Juanita Trana; sister Onnalee Wadell; and husband Dr. Irvin Berg.
She leaves behind sons Bruce Craven (wife Maria, sons Kyle and Caleb) and Rick Craven (wife Cheryl, stepchildren Jordan and Julianna); brother James Trana; nieces and nephews Dr. Larry Wadell, Dr. Sheri Malakhov, Peter Trana, and Lori Nash.
Service is to be held at Sunset Kapala Glodek Funeral Home, 2250 St. Anthony Blvd, Minneapolis, MN on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 11 am, with a gathering starting one hour prior. Inurnment to follow at Sunset Cemetery.
