He was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his Legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
Matt is preceded in passing by his father, Dean Nicholson; grandparents, Everett and Evelyn Chirhart, Edwin and Inez Nicholson, Charles and Gretchen Melody, and Leonard and Nora Nelson.
He is survived by his fiance, Kathy Koolmo; his mother, Diane Nicholson; father, Larry Nelson; children, Kaitlyn and Drew; siblings, Teresa (Lenny) Small, Maaja (John) Kern, Joe Nicholson and significant other Krissy Johnson, Rebekah Hanold, and Lizzy (Zach) King; and nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Matt was born in St Paul on May 23rd, 1971. He was a 1989 graduate of Columbia Heights Senior High. Matt was an avid lover of the outdoors and spent much of his time hunting or on a lake fishing. He has left many meaningful and happy memories for those who knew and loved him that will last their lifetimes.
He will be sorely missed and forever remembered.
To honor Matt's memory, we are holding a Celebration of Life on February 25th at Fridley Covenant Church, 6390 University Ave NE, Fridley. Visitation 11:30 am - 1:00 pm, with service beginning at 1:00 pm.
