Peter was born in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, on August 14, 1933, and graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1951 and North Dakota Agricultural College (now North Dakota State University) in 1959 with an Electrical Engineering degree. He interrupted his college years by joining the Air Force in the summer of 1954 until his Honorable Discharge in 1957.
Peter married Alice Ann Rogde on June 17, 1959, in Wahpeton, North Dakota. Shortly thereafter they moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, so Peter could join Honeywell where he spent his entire career. There he used his engineering skills designing avionics test systems.
Alice passed away November 22, 1989, after 30 years of marriage. Peter is survived by their three children Tim, Nancy and Mark (Connie), his six grandchildren Ron, Abbie (Spencer), Ian, Christian, Grace, and Owen, and one great grandchild, Lincoln, born the Friday before his death.
Peter had many interests including skiing in his Air Force days, golf in his younger days, creation science, sailing and the infamous sailboat, physics, the piano with lessons later in life, a love for classical music, Beethoven being his favorite, and various other explorations and interests. He was a man of deep faith spending over 45 years attending Church Upon the Rock in Mounds View, Minnesota.
Per Peter’s request, there will be no formal funeral, but friends and family wishing to share a quiet moment or visit prior to his burial are welcome to gather in the chapel at Sunset & Kapala-Glodek Funeral Home and Sunset Cemetery, 2250 St. Anthony Boulevard NE, Minneapolis, Minnesota, 55418, at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 10. This will be followed by a short graveside reflection, at 10:30, led by Pastor Gordy Steck, before Peter’s burial, with honors, beside his wife Alice.
Dad, Grandpa, you were deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
