He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Anita Joyce (Bowen) Shogren, of 54 years. His parents, Albert, and Violet (Cartier) Shogren, and his brother Richard Shogren. Ray and Anita were married on October 1, 1966. Ray is lovingly remembered by; his sons, Scott Shogren, Terry (Becky) Shogren; grandson, Lucas Shogren; brothers, Robert (Bettye) Shogren; Ron Shogren; Alan (Patricia) Shogren; and sister, Anne (Roger) Roysdon and many nieces and nephews.
Ray was born in Forest Lake, MN on September 18, 1939. He graduated from Forest Lake Senior High School in June 1958. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1958 to 1962. He worked various jobs but is best known for his time as a Machinist at Paper Calmenson and as a Senior Operating Engineer for Foster Wheeler operating high pressure boilers to heat the University of Minnesota. Ray was mechanically minded and gifted and always had a project in the works and was always tinkering with something. Ray was a child of God. He was involved in many activities within the church including bible studies and playing catcher on the church softball team. He loved to travel and enjoyed many adventures across the United States with family and friends.
After retirement Ray enjoyed his time being a snowbird with Anita. They would enjoy the summer weather in Minnesota keeping busy visiting family and friends. When the weather started to turn cold, they would head South to Texas enjoying the winter months with their Seawind family. While there he enjoyed cooking over open fires, fishing off the pier, shooting sports, and exploring the surrounding countryside.
Services will take place at Rose Hill Alliance Church, 2105 Roselawn Ave. W. Roseville, MN on Saturday, April 20, 2024. Service at 2:00 pm. A reception will immediately follow the service at Rose Hill. The service will be live streamed for friends and family who cannot join.
