

He was born on the Fourth of July 1941 in Hawthorne, California and graduated from Lakewood High School in Lakewood, California. After high school he enter the US Army on April 1st, 1960. Ray served in the Vietnam War from 1965-1966. He was stationed all over the world: Fort Bliss, Texas, White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico, Germany, Korea and retired on June 1st, 1980 out of Fort Carson, Colorado as Chief Warrant Officer 2. Ray’s accomplishments in the military included Vulcan Air Defense System Mechanic, Chaparral Missile System Mechanic, Missile Maintenance, Missile and Armament Research and Development and Instructor. Ray’s honors included the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, plus, numerous letters of appreciation and commendation.
Ray’s next chapter of his life after the Army was an assistant night club manager at Ralph’s Place in Colorado Springs where he met the love of his life, Debra. They married on 11/20/1982, the first time, and travelled even more because of her career. When they moved to Reno, Nevada, Ray would start his second career, in the gaming business. He worked at the Comstock Hotel and Casino as a surveillance officer. From there, the Lady Luck Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada where besides surveillance officer, he was promoted to Gaming Consultant for Lady Luck Gaming Corporation for their Colorado and Mississippi properties. He brought his gaming expertise to California and worked at the Sycuan Casino and Viejas Hotel and Casino, At Viejas, he was the Gaming Commission Surveillance Supervisor.
In 2006, he retired from the gaming business. In his spare time, Ray enjoyed playing golf, Texas Hold Em Poker, video poker and he especially loved watching the Minnesota Vikings. On March 7th, 2009, he and Debra remarried and in June of 2011, made Turtle Lake their home.
He is survived by his loving wife Debra Mary (Danaj) Spring, his three children Christopher J. Donahue of Dyer, Nevada, Raymond Douglas (Jacque) Spring II of Hubbard, Nebraska, Teresa M. (Spring) Jorgenson of Weiser, Idaho. Grandchildren Chance Donahue, Cody Spring and Raven Jorgenson plus other step grandchildren, great-grandchildren, his brother Wayne C. (Sharon) Spring of Orange, California, many other family members, relatives, and dear friends.
He is preceded by his parents Henry Audrey Clifford and Lillie Evelyn Spring and his brother Clyde E. Spring.
A funeral service will be held on September 29, 2023, at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 114 Soo Avenue, Almena, Wisconsin.There will be a Celebration of Life luncheon from Noon until 3pm in the

A graveside service with Military Honors and internment will be held at Sunset Funeral Home and Cemetery on Monday, October 2nd, 2023, at 1pm.
