The Minnesota polka scene has truly lost one of its most iconic figures. Polka dances will not be the same without Dick's smiling face, enthusiasm and boundless energy. And not since Bob Ross painted landscapes on PBS, has a perm been so immediately recognizable and endearing.

Dick, I hope you are up there enjoying the best version of "Idzie Lala" ever. You will be sorely missed down here.

Do nastepnego razu.

I have known Dick since high school. What a great time we has back then with our circle of friends. Dick had the only car, a beautiful 1949 black convertible which was all decked out according to the times.. then my parents and I moved away and we lost touch only to reconnect through a friend a few years ago. Even though it had been 60+ years we laughed and talked about old times like it was yesterday. I will always miss our long talks and occasional lunches. May God hold you in his arms and I’ll see you again some day buddy. Annis

So glad I got to meet him and Betty. What a nice guy. Nice people. My first meeting him was at Mike and Gloria's house, maybe 2008 at Alicia's grad party and he wanted to meet the person that made the tequila berry salad. He found me, loved the salad, wanted the receipe then asked me if I polka'ed lol
I will always have that precious memory.
My Condolences to the entire family

Dick and I became friends when I was playing with the Jolly Brothers at Mayslacks in 1961 and at Ole's Momart on 19th & Central Ave NE. He and Betty were dedicated Polish Polka music followers. Dick was so excited when they came back from "Seven Springs" singing, "We're gonna have a Polka Celebration". Matthew, playing bass, Dick playing his drums and I on concertina played together at his neighbors bar in Dassel, MN wearing our Yellow, Polka Celebration shirts. Our friendship goes back many years. May Dick & Betty 'Rest in Peace, together.
