OBITUARY

Robert Joseph Awe Jr.

July 30, 1946January 11, 2021

Robert Joseph Awe Jr. of Minneapolis, MN passed away on January 11, 2021 at the age of 74.

He is preceded in death by his parents Edith (Jane), Robert Sr. and sister Edith (Eddie). He is survived by his brother Charles; his wife of over 51 years, Carol, sons: Robert (Stephanie), Randall, Daniel (Lynn), William (Beth), “adopted sons” Wesley (Robin) Myers, Craig Myers, nephew Christopher Awe and grandchildren: Thomas, Xavier, Justin, Zander, Ethan, Emma, Onica, Brayden and Melody. Robert grew up in Cannon Falls, MN and graduated from Cannon Falls Highschool. He earned a degree in computer science at Mankato State. He used that degree to get a job at Investors Diversified Services; which was bought by American Express that later sold the technology department to IBM. He retired from an over 30-year career in 2003.

As a long-time resident of South Minneapolis, he and his sons were all very involved with the Boys Scouts. Once his sons were grown, he and his wife regularly enjoyed camping and participating in events with other retired assistant scout masters. Robert will be fondly remembered as a kind and devoted family man who always gave more of himself. Those who knew him, think of him as a Renaissance man. His interest and knowledge knew no bounds. If there was an opportunity to name a star or submit family members names to travel to Mars, he would be one of the first ones to sign up. He loved life, history, genealogy, arts, technology and other cultures. He enjoyed tasting and attempting to cook new cuisines. He believed in enriching his life by spending time with family, travel, experiencing new adventures and expanding his mind with all the possibilities. He loved a friendly debate, playing games and sitting around a campfire. He had a curious sense of humor and if you asked him a question, he would give you a typical “Robert” literal response. He was a collector of “things” and his greatest collection is his family.

Always enjoyed talking to Robert and loved it when his family came to North Dakota to camp out in the Yard at the farm and to visit with my dad. You will be missed.
