Robert George Crapson, 73, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026, held close by his family and caregivers. He lived fully, loved deeply, and left the world a little more colorful for having been in it.
He was born on November 1, 1952, in St. Paul, MN to George E. Crapson and Alma G. (Routh) Crapson. For decades, Robert logged countless miles across the country as a commercial truck driver — a quiet but essential contribution to the lives of others. On February 8,1986, Robert's life changed profoundly following a serious truck accident near Fargo, North Dakota. With characteristic resilience, he faced the years that followed with the same quiet strength that defined him.
Robert will be lovingly remembered by his two sons, Michael George (Nadine) Crapson and Daniel George Crapson. Also surviving are his grandchildren Michael Greek, Angelina Josephson, and Jordon Luedke; his sisters, Bessie Ronk and Sandi Morris; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Juanita Miller.
Whether a favorite oldies song was playing — "The Little Nash Rambler" by Charlie Ryan, anything by Johnny Cash, or whatever the radio brought his way — or engines were roaring on the track, Robert was in his element. Music and NASCAR were among his greatest joys, and he proudly cheered on his favorite driver, Martin Truex Jr., until the very end. He cherished above all else the endless hours spent goofing around with his sons.
Some of Robert's fondest childhood memories were made at his family's corner store, where he learned the value of hard work and community alongside his parents, George and Alma. Crapson’s Grocery was located on Farrington Avenue in the Frogtown neighborhood of St. Paul, MN.
Throughout his life, Robert marched to the beat of his own magnificent drum, greeting each day with a radiant smile, an open heart, and a perspective entirely his own. He will be deeply missed.
The family will hold a private celebration of life at Suite Living in Rosemount, where they spent the final chapter bringing endless laughter and joy to the home. The devoted staff who loved and cared for them so warmly will always cherish them for being Brave And Ridiculously Bold.
