Sinja, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and faithful follower of Christ, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2025 after a 13-year journey with Alzheimer’s disease.
Born in Yangsan, Korea, and raised in Busan, she became an elementary school teacher, dedicating much of her career to teaching first and second graders. In 1966, she married the love of her life and together they had four children, one of whom passed away in infancy. In 1986, she immigrated to the United States, where she worked tirelessly to support her family and build a new life with courage and faith. She was an active member of the Korean Presbyterian Church of Minnesota, joyfully serving in the church library.
She lived with a childlike trust in the Lord and a deep belief in the power of prayer. Through many hardships, she remained resilient—never bitter, always hopeful. Her humility and curiosity made her a lifelong learner, unafraid to ask questions and eager to grow.
She saw the good in others and left a legacy of grace, kindness, and positivity to her children and grandchildren. Her love for her family was unwavering, and her belief in them never faltered.
She is survived by husband, Daesik Cho; daughter, Chong-ah (Namyong Lee); sons, Yongkyun (Sunkyung) and Yongduk (Jihyun); grandchildren, Dahsol Lee (Lane Dooley-Jesso), Christopher Sooyoung, Dah-ye Lee, Annabel Myungjoo (Andrew Walker), and Isaac Geonyoung; two sisters, Kyungok Chung and Hyeran Chin (Sungwoo Chin); three brothers, Chul Chung (Michelle), Jiseok Chung (Jeomsoon) and Sinhyung Chung (Youngmi).
She is preceded in death by her parents, Doo Soon and Rev. Jinsaeng Chung; son, Yongsang, older brother, Chong-hae and his wife Jane.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025 at Sunset Funeral Home, Minneapolis at 11:00 am with visitation beginning at 10:00 am. Burial will be held at Sunset Cemetery, Minneapolis.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered
