Tom was an outdoorsman to the core and a Conservative with a red hat, who proudly displayed his conviction that America could be made “Great Again.” He was an inventor, machinist and mechanic, a big game hunter and year-round fisherman. His home away from home was The Ponderosa where he gathered with friends who shared his love for the land “up north.” An ardent conservationist, Tom oversaw the planting of thousands of trees on that acreage. At home in the kitchen as well as outdoors, Tom collected cookbooks, made his own sausage, processed bear and deer meat, and produced countless jars of fruit preserves. Tom had a wry sense of humor and was sometimes mischievous. He had a love for driving earth-moving machinery, and once created a duck pond with a few carefully placed sticks of dynamite. In his 20’s, the day his third daughter was born, Tom was stock car racing at the MN State Fair. His life was rich and satisfying. He loved his friends and family.
